Rustic Beauty

September started off with the delivery of a buttercream finished three tier wedding cake for a beautiful intimate wedding in the garden room of The Goosedale in Papplewick. So this month I've picked the couples favourite flavour as my flavour in the spotlight for September. This cake made by Celebrity Cakes was just bespoke both inside and out. Waiting to be devoured were Layers of Toffee sponge filled with homemade caramel and our smooth signature 

Madagascan Vanilla Buttercream and the finishing touch as a special request, toasted pecans! 


At the couple's tasting consultation, I was asked for the buttercream to not be perfectly straight. I was also asked to colour the buttercream a specific shade and to put ribbon around the bottom. Janna particularly wanted the ribbon to look a little like raffia from her inspiration photo. So to stop the potential bleeding, I glazed the back of the ribbon with confectioners glaze to make it 'waterproof'. I think this was the most difficult part and of course trying to make the swathes of buttercream not be perfect. I finished the top of the cake with a ruffle rosette and surprised the couple by dressing their cake knife for them.

"My husband and I were extremely pleased with not only our wedding cake but also Tina's service. We had to postpone our wedding several times and Tina was very understanding through it all. We met her at a wedding fair and instantly knew we wanted her to do our wedding cake. When we went for our tasting session, we knew we made the right choice!

She understood exactly what we wanted and what went with our wedding theme. Not only did our three tier cake taste amazing, but none of the guests could believe it was also gluten free!

Tina went above and beyond to make us what we wanted and we couldn't have gone with someone better for our wedding cake!"
