At Celebrity Cakes, we often work with couples who want to move beyond traditional florals to explore texture and contemporary art. For Mathew and Aziz’s wedding at the Bentley Brook Inn, we designed an architectural four-tier masterpiece that combined geological textures with precious metal detailing.
The Technical Challenge: Mixed-Media Composition
The design featured a striking 'double-barrel' mid-tier to create dramatic height, but the true complexity lay in the surface finishes. I utilised a multi-stage process to create a hand-molded stone texture, providing a rugged, organic contrast to the delicate 24ct gold leaf accents.
To anchor the design, the bottom tier was finished with a bespoke hand-painted green ombre, seamlessly transitioning from deep forest tones to a light watercolour wash.
The Signature Detail: Sugar over Florals
In a departure from fresh flowers, the couple opted for hand-sculpted sugar berries and foliage. Every element was individually molded and tinted to match the botanical theme, ensuring a 100% food-safe and artisanal finish that remained flawless throughout the celebration.
Beyond the Cake: The Confectionery Suite
To provide a complete sensory experience for their guests, Mathew and Aziz commissioned a full suite of confections. This included our signature Geometric Hearts and a curated array of gourmet treats, creating a cohesive and luxurious dessert focal point in the heart of the Derbyshire Peaks.
